First Baptist Church Supports the Fight Against Slavery

We will be hosting a team of 22 cyclists who are donating their time, finances and physical capabilities to ride from Seattle, WA to Portland, OR this summer, using the International Justice Mission (IJM) Freedom Tour as a platform to address the ongoing issue of modern-day slavery.

The IJM Tour will travel approximately 450 miles while visiting churches and community groups along the way.  Port Angeles will be the group’s first stop after leaving Seattle.  The cyclists will be in Allen Hall at 7pm on Monday Aug 5th to share about the realities of modern day slavery and tangible steps individuals and groups can take to bring an end to this horrible abuse of people.  A free dinner will be provided and a free will offering will be accepted to help with the IJM cause.

IJM is a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.  IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to secure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to ensure that public justice systems – police, courts and laws – effectively protect the poor.

It is estimated that 27 million slaves exist in the world today.
