One of our First Baptist Church Small Groups is collecting items to assemble backpacks or duffle bags that could be used to bless someone who is homeless or in crisis.
There are two ways you could help! The first is by donating bags or items for the bags. Here is a list of the items we are looking for:
Gently used, clean backpack or duffle bag
(new bags or packs make homeless people a target for violence)New or gently used, clean blanket
Foil-type, emergency blanket or poncho
Non-perishable, single-serving food items (granola bars, crackers, peanut butter, fruit cups, juice boxes, trail mixes, jerky, etc):
Mints/cough drops/gum
Single-serve water bottles
Toilet paper
Hand sanitizer/wet wipes
Travel kleenex
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Feminine Hygiene Products
Comb
Unscented deodorant
Unscented bar soap
Razor
Unscented shampoo/conditioner
Chap-stick
Nail clippers
Band-aids
Hand warmers
Socks (men’s 10-13 recommended)
New or gently used hat, gloves, and/or scarf
These things can be brought to the church on a Sunday morning (service at 11:00 am) or the church office (open Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm) before Tuesday, November 10th.
The second way you could help is by signing up to receive one of the bags that you might then put in your trunk and carry around with you so that you can give it to a homeless person or someone the Lord leads or to bless.
